“I’m always out of the box and I can’t fit in, but I’m also the girl next door”

Born in Georgia, Kay lived in Moscow and moved to London as a child. She has worked as an actress; her favourite role was playing a Russian assassin on an HBO series.

Kay currently works as an artist who creates 3D wall sculptures and 3D phallic art.  She is a passionate vegan who wants the lifestyle to become mainstream.

She is not actively looking for a relationship: “I never look for love. If it’s meant to be, we will find each other.”

Kay gets along with all kinds of people but connects more with “artistic thinkers and open minded individuals”. Her dream job would be as an animal activist. She’d love to save animals across the world and create a loving, peaceful sanctuary for them.

Q&A

Why are you taking part in Big Brother?
I think I will be a great mental test for me to be put in such an enclosed environment, to see how I survive. I do feel like I really want to push myself mentally because I have always been in my comfort zone. I think Big Brother will push me above and beyond my comfort zone. Recently also, I have become quite a private person, which is quite ironic given that I’m now doing Big Brother. Sometimes in life you have to do the opposite of what you would usually do. And also it’s a chance for me to mix with so many new characters who I may not have ever crossed paths with in normal day-to-day life.

What do you think you will bring to the House?
A lot of love and warmth, because naturally I’ve very much like the Buddha of my friends. I contribute in sorting out their lives and their problems. I’m also a big cleaner.

Are you a fan of Big Brother?
Yes, I am. It is the rawest show out there. Anything can happen. For me, over the years that I’ve watched Big Brother, it’s kept me on the edge of my seat.

Do you have a favourite Housemate?
I really liked Pete Bennett [Big Brother 7]. He was such a lovely soul, and really genuine. You really warmed to him as a character, and he had something about him.

What kind of Housemates would you get on with?
Anyone who’s intellectual, is a reader, likes philosophical discussions. I’m genuinely drawn towards those sorts of things. I’m vegan, and with that comes a lot of responsibility. I feel like I’ve got to do veganism justice, and really alter people’s perception of it.

What kind of Housemates would you not get on with?
I hate to sound judgemental, because everyone’s at their own stage in life, but anyone who’s really narcissistic, who only wants to talk about themselves and not ask questions of the other person. So very self-absorbed sort of characters. And characters who are just about the aesthetics. Don’t get me wrong, I love looking glamorous, but people who are only focussed on that, it’s really boring to spend time with those kinds of people and to engage with them.

What will you miss from the outside world?
My first instinct was nothing. Purely because I think I’m ready for this. I feel like I’ve almost become slightly reclusive and there’s an element of boredom in my current life and how I do  things. So I’m actually quite excited to cut myself off from the world. I feel like I want to disassociate from everything that I’ve known and really dive into this environment.

What’s your favourite possession?
There’s nothing really. But maybe I will miss certain foods. As I said, I’m vegan, but I mean I’m fine on brown rice and vegetables if that’s all there is in the House, I’m not fussy. But maybe I’ll miss the foods that I’m used to, like my morning-special vitamin shake.

Anything you wouldn’t do on camera?
Going to the toilet and washing. For the shower, I’m taking in some cover-ups that I’m going to wear, just in case.

What can viewers expect from you as a Housemate?
Expect the unexpected. Because I have no idea what to expect of myself, as I’ve never been put into this situation. In the weirdest way, I’m the biggest class clown, I’ve highly entertained everyone I’ve ever met. I’m definitely a people’s person. But in that environment, who knows.

How would you go about winning Big Brother?
You just have to be yourself. Being a nice, compassionate person, and understanding, I think that gets you a long way. But I’d like to think I naturally do have those tendencies. I think I just have to be myself.
